With the 2008 instalment of Polo For Heart all wrapped up, organizers are saying a big thank you to the event’s supporters for helping them raise a record $205,000.

Co-chairperson of 2008’s PACE Polo For Heart, Mike Egan, said he was incredibly grateful for all of the enthusiasm and support the event had garnered in the community and called it a huge success. Things simply couldn’t have gone better, he added.

“We had one of our best events ever this year,” Mr. Egan said. “We had great weather, we raised a lot of money and everyone had a great time.”

‘... we all benefit when we come together to help the community.’

Vice-president of business development with title sponsor PACE Credit Union, Dan Coldwell, echoed many of Mr. Egan’s sentiments and added the success of Polo For Heart was a big win for everyone. PACE was proud to be a part of it, he said.

“PACE believes we all benefit when we come together to help the community,” Mr. Coldwell said. “We’re thrilled to have been involved.”

And Mr. Coldwell wasn’t alone in his excitement. Representing one of the event’s two beneficiaries, president and CEO of the Southlake Regional Health Centre Foundation, Neila Poscente, assured her organization’s $102,500 share of the money raised would be used to purchase diagnostic and treatment equipment for the cardiac care program.

The other half of the funds raised went to the Heart and Stroke Foundation and would be put toward its Chase McEachern Tribute Fund, according to the organization’s director of major alliances, Justin Brown.
Mr. Egan also announced that the 30th Anniversary installment of Polo for Heart will run June 19 to 21, 2009.
