Fifteen centimetres of snow by morning north of Steeles Ave.

Pull out that shovel and pack some patience for tomorrow’s commute, York Region.

The area north of Steeles Avenue should expect upwards of 15 cm of snow by morning.

Environment Canada meteorologist Rob Kuhn said the closer an area is to Lake Ontario the less snow they can expect. Those along the lakeshore will receive only 2 cm.

If the temperature falls by even a degree Mr. Kuhn added the snowfall in all areas could be greater.

An additional 2 centimetres is predicted for Monday.

The weather is the result of two storm systems. One is moving east from Alberta and another north from Louisiana.

“The morning commute is expected to be sloppy at best ... it will be like driving in wet cold concrete,” Mr. Kuhn said.

Accuweather.com calls for as much as 20 cm of snow by Tuesday, but Environment Canada severe weather meteorologist Mark Firmin expects 10 cm at most.

He said more snow will fall to the north. There will be 40 km/h winds, with gusts up to 60 km/h.

“It’s not off the charts, but it’s windy enough to make it colder than it actually is.”

The wet weather will make for a challenging commute tomorrow.

“Be prepared for a slow drive,” said Mr. Firmin.
