Anna McNeil of Sutton won the hearts of the judges and audience with her rendition of You’ve Got a Friend to win the 2008 Georgina Idol contest at the Sutton Fair last Thursday.

She emerged from a group of 10 to win the accolade as well as $1,000.

Second was Cindy Lunau, 13, of Keswick, the youngest competitor who sang Traveling Soldier and third was the only male entry, Michael Divito, 16, of Keswick, who got the audience clapping and cheering with his flamboyant performance of Eye of the Tiger.

Other competitors included Alexandra Uhr, 16, of Keswick, singing Feels Like Home To Me; Christina Logan, 14, of Keswick (Settlin’), Emily Cook, 14, of Sutton (Don’t Blink), Rachael Bruno, 18, of Keswick (The Tide), Hayley Greenall, 17, of Keswick (Lovesong), and Rebecca Ryan, 14, of Pefferlaw (She Will Be Loved).

Meanwhile, Canadian Idol contestant Mookie Morris tries to get to the final five on tonight’s show starting at 8 p.m. on CTV.
