The Liberal candidate in Oak Ridges—Markham is touting an endorsement from another politician.
Steve Armes, Lui Temelkovski’s former Green Party opponent in the 2006 federal election, is endorsing the Liberal MP this time around.
“This election, I’m supporting Lui and the Liberals. We all have to,” reads an ad and media release for Mr. Temelkovski.
Mr. Temelkovski was first elected in 2004 as the Member of Parliament for the newly-created riding of Oak Ridges-Markham.
Markham Mayor Frank Scarpitti endorsed Mr. Temelkovski last week.
Other mayors whose towns are in the riding, including Wayne Emmerson in Whitchurch-Stouffville and Dave Barrow in Richmond Hill, are not endorsing candidates.
Meanwhile, voters in two polls in Oak Ridges-Markham are being urged to check for a correction notice in the mail about a change in the polling location for Tuesday’s federal election.
Voters in electoral districts 202 and 221 received voter information cards showing an incorrect polling location.
The affected area in Markham is bounded by Edward Jeffreys Avenue in the north, 16th Avenue to the south, Roy Rainey Avenue to the west and Main Street North (Hwy. 48) to the east.
Electors in this area should look for their yellow revised voter information card.
They will vote at Wismer Public School at 171 Mingay Ave. in Markham. They can also vote in the final advance poll Monday at the poll location indicated on their card.
Anyone not sure where to vote can call Elections Canada at 1-866-249-5930.
