For East Gwillimbury councillor Cathy Morton, seeing the Mount Albert Library turn 10 is a celebration that comes full circle.

She was part of the original committee charged with getting the library project off the ground.

“I sat in on the bricks and mortar choosing stage,” she said. “It’s 10 years later.”

Before the books stacked up at 19300 Centre St. in Mount Albert, residents were scattered across town in different library locations, with some reading in the old fire hall, now turned variety store.

Celebrations fall within Ontario Public Library week. Friends of the East Gwillimbury Library, members of council and library staff will be kicking off the ceremony  on Oct. 21 at 7 p.m. at the Mount Albert Library.
