St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church in Sutton is saying goodbye to their pastor Rev. Jim Young and his wife, Ann, at the end of this year.
Mr. Young has been called by the International Ministries department of the church to serve a three-year contract in Grenada, effective Jan. 1.
“Jim and Ann have served our community faithfully in many ways for seven and a half years,” spokesperson Gayle Clarke said. “Jim has been part of the Chaplaincy team at Southlake Regional Health Care Centre and padre of the Sutton Legion.
“Along with serving as our minister, he has been a constant and caring companion to all who have attended our weekly Community Meal for almost four years.”
He has been a voice for those who have had no voice and has created relationships in the community that will continue long after their departure, she added.
Mrs. Young worked at the Scotiabank in Sutton since their arrival and has been a constant source of support and encouragement in the church.
“They will both be missed, but, in spite of our loss, it is Grenada’s gain, and we wish them both well in this new endeavour,” Ms Clarke said.
To celebrate Mr. Young’s call, there will be a Commissioning Service held at St. Andrew’s Church Sunday at 3:30 p.m.
All are welcome, and refreshments will follow in the church hall.
The church is expected to be full, so the public is urged to arrive early.
Parking is available at the Sutton Public School, directly across from the church on Dalton Road.
