The excitement is building as the date approaches for the annual Georgina Cares Live TV Auction.

Hundreds of items will be up for bidding on Rogers Channel 10 Dec. 14 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Every 10 minutes, eight new items will be auctioned off by the celebrity guests at the Rogers Newmarket studio, while call takers will be manning the phones at the Newmarket council chambers.

Successful bidders can pick up their items at the Georgina Civic Centre from 6 to 8 p.m.

There are 31 regular blocks of eight items, more than 240 items in total with a value of up to $500 per item, Georgina Cares administrator Jennifer Anderson said.

“Our regular blocks include several Leafs and Raptors tickets, gift certificates, fitness programs, gift baskets, unique and one-of-a-kind items and lots, lots more,” she said.

“We are thrilled, once again, to have Prestige Jewellers as our Platinum donor once again this year. Sam Bozuk is donating 31 items, one for every block, for the auction, all of which are now on display.”

All day items, all valued at over $500 include courtside Raptors tickets, a three-day cottage rental, 32-inch LCD TV, children’s learning program, weight loss program and more.

All of the items will be listed on a one-page ad in The Advocate Dec. 11 and on the website the week leading up to the event.

Contact Georgina Cares for any donation of items.

Money raised will go to helping underprivileged children in the community to help pay for extracurricular activities and special needs.

“Over the last 10 years Georgina Cares has helped hundreds of local kids by funding their hockey, summer camps, music lessons or grade-booster programs, just to name a few,” Ms Anderson said.

“We have also provided funding for braces or other medical equipment.”

Georgina Cares also helps local families with a one-time compassion fund for those who have experience major difficulties, such as death, illness for separation.
