Ontario Provincial Police have laid impaired driving charges against a motorist involved in a crash near Schomberg Saturday that sent a couple to hospital.

Between 5:30 and 6 p.m., a Dodge Caravan crossed over the centre road line of Hwy. 9 near Sideroad 15 and slammed into a Buick, according to OPP Sgt. Cam Woolley.

A man and woman were hospitalized with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

The road was closed for about two hours.

You should call 911 if you see a suspected impaired driver and stop anyone you know who drives intoxicated, Sgt. Woolley said.

“If you know anyone who is a chronic drunk driver, you’re not doing anyone a favour by ignoring it,” Sgt. Woolley said. “If you care about these people, try to get them help.”

A 44-year-old Innisfil man is charged with two counts of impaired driving causing bodily harm, two counts of dangerous driving causing bodily harm, driving with more than 80 milligrams of alcohol in the blood and driving while disqualified.
