James Binsfield is one of 10 Ontario residents to receive the Ontario Medal for Young Volunteers in an awards ceremony this morning at Queen's Park. 

The King City resident was born with a severe heart condition but is a member and coach for the Ontario alpine downhill ski team for the Paralympics.

The 23-year-old Binsfield is hoping to qualify for the 2010 Paralympics in Vancouver and Whistler.

He is also active as a York Region representative for Easter Seals and volunteers with Leaders of Tomorrow, which organizes camp for disabled children in the GTA.

Lieutenant Governor of Ontario David Onley presented the award which recognizes outstanding volunteer contributions by Ontario residents between the ages of 15 and 24 years.
