A pedestrian was struck by a tractor-trailer at about 5:30 a.m. today on Hwy. 400 southbound, just north of Canal Road.

The woman, 48, was rushed to Sunnybrook Hospital in Toronto with critical injuries.

OPP are investigating why the woman was on the highway. Her car, a Lincoln, was pulled over on the side of the road with the hood up at the time of the incident.

Police have not released the woman's identity but have confirmed she is from the Schomberg area.
