Aurora’s Hillary House national historic site will be home to A Family Christmas Dec. 7.
The Aurora Historical Society invites you to take a break from the hustle and bustle of the holiday season and step back in time before the days of long line-ups and mad rushes at the mall.
To get into the spirit of the season, the Hillary House will be transformed into a wintery wonderland complete with traditional decorations, crackling fires, the smell of cider and the sound of some familiar Christmas carols.
In addition to some much-needed festive cheer, there will also be crafts for the children, refreshments, home-made goodies, storytelling and a special visit by Old. St. Nick.
Photograher Sarah Vanderheide will capture the memorable scenes.
The event runs from 1 to 4 p.m.
Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for children.
For more information call 905-727-8991.
You are also invited to an evening of festive fun at Aurora’s Hillary House Dec. 13.
The historic home’s ballroom will come alive with the sounds of pianist Carol Gibson who will play holiday favourites.
The music begins at 7:30 p.m. and will be followed by readings of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol.
In addition, holiday goodies, tea, coffee and a wassail bowl will be served.
Tickets are $15 each.
