If you live in Cornell, prepare yourself and your family for the fun of pony rides, inflatable play zones, face painting and a live band because the annual Cornell Picnic is back.

The free Aug. 10 event is from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Benjamin Marr Park between Country Glen Road and Ninth Line.

The picnic, run by the Cornell Ratepayers Association, began 10 years ago.

“At our first picnic, we had no grass. We did it on the road and had 150 people,” board member and past president Renee Torrington said.

“We had a barbecue, we ran races and games for the kids. It all just grew from there and now we have a live band and hot air balloon rides.”

The food isn’t free, but the picnic is, thanks to donations from real estate offices and builders.
