The Stouffville Mennos won their second Oshawa City and District Softball League game of the season Monday.
Only this time around, they earned it the old fashioned way, beating the host Newmarket Stingers and mercying them 10-2 in six innings.
The Mennos scored a pair of runs in the second inning thanks to a two-run scoring single by first baseman Kris Burkholder.
The Mennos added another pair of runs in the third when third baseman Dale Boadway doubled and scored on a two-run homer by shortstop Jeff Boadway.
In the fourth inning, the Mennos added another run when singles by Burkholder and catcher Shawn Boadway set the stage for Rich Burkholder, who hit into a fielder’s choice.
The Mennos put the game out of reach in the sixth inning after erupting for five runs. Among them was an opposite field inside-the-park home run by Boadway.
Jeff Boadway had four hits and three RBIs, Rich Burkholder four RBIs and Kris Burkholder two RBIs.
Greg Dalgarno relieved Baranieski in the second inning and worked 3 2/3 innings to earn the win.
Now 2-1 on the season, the Mennos, who won their home opener by default, play host to Lake Simcoe today at Memorial Park at 8:30 p.m.
