Peter Polansky is one of four competitors to have earned a wild card entry into the singles main draw of the Rogers Cup tennis competition at the Rexall Center this weekend.

The 20-year-old Thornhill native and member of Canada’s Davis Cup team is among 56 players competing in the third-oldest tournament behind Wimbledon and the U.S. Open.

Vaulting nearly 500 spots in his first full season as a professional last year, he is now ranked 277th.

He earned his first qualifying selection to a Grand Slam in June at Wimbledon and has advanced to the quarter-finals in 10 of 15 events this season.

The official draw for Rogers Cup is being held at the Rexall Centre at York University, Saturday at 2 p.m.
Tournament play is July 19 to 27.
