A Thornhill man had his vehicle impounded for a week after a traffic stop in Simcoe County Friday.

At about 10:30 p.m., a South Simcoe police officer conducting radar enforcement on Victoria Street West in Stroud, a community in the Town of Innisfil, clocked a vehicle at 114 km/h in a 50 km/h zone, police said.

A 40-year-old Thornhill man has been charged with street racing. The vehicle he was driving was impounded for seven days and his licence suspended.

Under provincial law, police can impound your car for seven days on the spot if you are caught driving 50 km/h or more above the posted speed limit.
