York Regional Police drug investigators arrested three people and seized about $1.625 million worth of marijuana in Thornhill this week.
As part of a probe launched in mid-August after police received information, officers were watching a home Wednesday on Longbridge Road, in the Yonge Street and Hwy. 407 area, police spokesperson Const. Marina Orlovski said.
Police followed a vehicle from Longbridge about a block south to another home on Uplands Avenue.
People were seen going into the Uplands home and were seen coming out with items and getting back into the vehicle, she said.
After the vehicle was stopped, police discovered 48 pounds of marijuana and arrested three people, Const. Orlovski said.
On Thursday, both homes were raided with warrants.
Inside the home on Uplands, police found 1,195 marijuana plants worth approximately $1.195 million on the streets.
Officers discovered 430 marijuana plants, worth about $430,000 in the Longbridge home, she said. No one was living at the Longbridge home.
