By: Jim Mason, Staff Writer

A man is recovering following surgery after being stabbed in Thornhill Friday night.

York Regional Police are calling the attack an attempted murder.

The suspect was approached by a man near Hilda and Steeles avenues, just west of Yonge Street, about 11:30 p.m.

“The suspect requested money for the bus from the victim,” Det. Marty Rodrigues said. “The victim accommodated the suspect by giving him money, at which point the suspect began stabbing the victim. The victim attempted to defend himself but continued to be stabbed multiple times.

The suspect ran off.
