Top peewees set to sparkle in Vaughan
Ten provincial champions are in the starting lineup when the Baseball Canada peewee baseball championships swing into action today at Concord Regional Park.
Hosted by the Vaughan Vikings, the 11-team tournament gets under way with games at 9 a.m., including a match between the Vikings and Prince Edward Island. Quebec and Alberta also clash at the same time.
Ontario is represented in the tournament by the Windsor Stars, who defeated the Richmond Hill Phoenix 3-0 in the Baseball Ontario championships.
The Stars begin play at 6 p.m. against Newfoundland and Labrador.
The Vikings will also face New Brunswick in a 6 p.m. contest.
Play in the four-team tournament resumes daily at 8:30 a.m.
The bronze medal game is slated for Sunday at 3 p.m., with the gold medal contest set for 6 p.m.

Meanwhile, Vaughan is also host to the Baseball Ontario midget double-A championships this weekend.
Chung captures 2nd victory
Natalie Chung captured her second win of the Canadian Junior Golf Association tour season at the Junior Open at Rolling Hills Golf Club in Stouffville Tuesday.
The 16-year-old Thornhill resident won the girls division after finishing with a two-round 179 (89-90) to finish 35 over par.
