Singing the national anthem at a Toronto Marlies hockey game and auditioning for Canadian Idol are just two of the events marked in Scott Page’s calendar.
The 28-year-old Stouffville resident first sang the national anthem at a Marlies American Hockey League game at Ricoh Coliseum in Toronto a couple of weeks ago.
He was accompanied by a choir from J. G. Workman Public School in Scarborough.
He’s been asked back to do a solo performance of O Canada for the Marlies at their March 30 game, as well as some future games.
On April 12 and 13, Mr. Page will line up with hundreds of other hopefuls in Yonge-Dundas Square to audition for Canadian Idol.
This will be Mr. Page’s second kick at the can. Although he didn’t get to audition in front of judges Farley Flex, Jake Gold, Sass Jordan and Zack Werner, he was in the top 500 out of about 10,000 entrants. He sang Ain’t No Sunshine When She’s Gone by Marvin Gaye and Bill Withers.
While he continues to rehearse for the audition, he hasn’t decided what he’ll sing for the idol judges this time around.
Music comes naturally to the Orillia native. Both parents taught piano and were church organists when he was growing up. He began by singing in church choirs and branched out into community theatre productions.
After completing studies in professional golf management at Humber College, Mr. Page moved to Stouffville about two years ago. By day, he is tournament co-ordinator and golf operations manager at Angus Glen Golf Club in Unionville.
