A Stouffville bed and breakfast is starring in a reality show that airs tonight.

My Parents’ House features the third-floor bedroom loft of David and Sandy Stronach’s Main Street home/business. The episode makes its debut at 10:30 p.m. on HGTV.

“It’s a design makeover series with a unique family twist,” spokesperson Aimee Sloggett said during filming in February. “Adult children return to the family home to do something they have been dying to do for years; redecorate and redesign at least one room.”

The Stronachs have three children. Leslie, 40, is director of catering at the Delta Chelsea in Toronto and lives in Aurora with her husband and two children. Jason, 38, lives in Stouffville, has three children and sells pool supplies. Craig, 36, works for Bell Mobility and lives in Oakville with his wife and three children.

The children wanted to create a hotel boutique-inspired retreat for their parents, while still maintaining the room’s contemporary country charm.

Designers Andrika Lawren and Emmanuel Belliveau led the Stronach siblings “through the dramatic and often hilarious process of renovating a room in 48 hours”, Ms Sloggett said.

The show is one of the highest rated on the network. Now in its fourth season, it is seen in more than 90 million homes across North America.

Families plunk down a $5,000 deposit with their application fee. The remainder of the costs, which have totalled from $28,000 to $70,000 in other episodes, are paid by the producers.

The episode will be rebroadcast Tuesday at 2:30 a.m. and Wednesday at 10 a.m.
