Members of council, less Susanne Hilton and Rob Hargrave, voted to sit on the recommendation to lower speed limits on town roads from 50 km/h to 40 km/h Tuesday.

“I get requests all the time to get the speed limits dropped to 40 km/h,” said Councillor Clyde Smith.

Mayor Wayne Emmerson added making the speed limit universal on town roads, especially with new subdivisions and parks coming in, will help ensure the safety of residents.

The matter will be voted on at the next council meeting, Sept. 2.
