Stouffville’s Terry Fox Run goes Sunday, Sept. 14.
You can take part from 1 to 4 p.m. from the Stouffville Arena and Connell-Franklin Track complex on Ninth Line and head out on the 5k course that winds through northern Stouffville.
But, its much more than just an afternoon jaunt.
Special events and activities include:
• Boston Pizza is running a Tips for Terry day today. All servers will donate their tips to the Terry Fox Foundation.
• The Stouffville Spirit is holding its annual car wash to raise money for the fund Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Houston Ford.
• Joint Venture Fitness, one of several companies entering teams, has a Terry Fox display up at its Main Street facility.
• New teams include Boston Pizza, Southwire, the Whitchurch-Stouffville Soccer Club and the Sharon and Graham Summerhayes family.
• Terry Fox volunteers spoke to many new families at the Inside Whitchurch-Stouffville information fair last month. They’ll be out again at key locations in Stouffville this weekend.
• There will be plenty of music on run day. We Rock School of Music musicians and students of pianist Pat Wild will serenade along the route. The popular Summitview Drum Band will also perform.
• Buckingham Manor will host a water station outside Latcham Gallery.
Pledge forms can be picked up at Boston Pizza, Schell Lumber, The Sun-Tribune, The Tanning Zone, Country Depot and the arena.
